? that makes sense. one of the least controversial things you could possibly imagine the united states government agreeing to. well, a bill to adjust that payment for the cost of living was brought to the senate floor last thursday. it was expected to go ahead. no plmuss, no fuss, who's goingo argue with that? it was blocked by someone in governor romney's party. an unnamed republican senator has put a hold on the cost of living adjustment to the surviving spouses and children's payment for soldiers killed in the war. the same hold is also affecting the disability payments to soldiers who are wounded in the war. some republican senator is blocking this. we don't know who. governor romney, here's a place to start. you are now the leader of the republican party. i realize you're having a hard time getting the training wheels off when it comes to national security, but here's an easy one. should that senator from your own party lift that hold on the cost of living adjustment to the payments to those people who we sort of owe it to? should a republican senator who's holding this up keep th

it would be wrong for the united states to apologize for distance itself from this bigoted anti-islam video. well, neither our state department nor our country, nor i think if i can say so, most americans have any reason to defend this vile and previously obscure video that surfaced online from some extremist. it is frustrating for the foreign policy and the diplomacy at stake here to have someone of mr. romney's stature implying wrongly that somehow we need to defend this crap. >> steve clemens, there's a statement that the romney campaign policy director made to "the new york times" which indicates that they were waiting for something like this, they were waiting to pounce. she said, we've had this consistent critique and narrative on obama's foreign policy and we felt this was a situation that met our critique. so, steve, she's saying they were waiting for something and they saw this and they thought, okay, this is it, here we go. and they jumped out there with the attack. and so this seems to have been premeditated even before the events developed. >> sure it was, lawrence. and i think

of the united states. it is one thing to screw up your nominating convention. like this. it's another thing to deny you screwed it up and said you did something that you did not do. when you say you went to the american legion and gave a speech about policy ideas, you did not do that. the press does follow you. you were right about that. the candidate will try to make up for this with a speech on the 9/11 anniversary. if he tries to continue to deny that he made the mistake in the first place, he will have compounded this error gravely. c osteoarthritis pain. imagine living your life with less chronic low back pain. imagine you, with less pain. cymbalta can help. cymbalta is fda-approved to manage chronic musculoskeletal pain. one non-narcotic pill a day, every day, can help reduce this pain. tell your doctor right away if your mood worsens, you have unusual changes in mood or behavior or thoughts of suicide. antidepressants can increase these in children, teens, and young adults. cymbalta is not approved for children under 18. people taking maois or thioridazine or with uncontrolled glauco

that a candidate for the president of the united states would go behind closed door and declare to a group of wealthy donors that half of the american people view themselves as victims, entitled to handouts and are unwilling to take personal responsibility for their lives. it's not my job to care about those people. we can never convince they should take personality responsibility and care for their lives. he's saying, andrea, how does anybody deal with that? >> that is the most damaging part of it because he's suggesting not only that he can't get their votes but that he has responsibility to them as a future leader. now, let me just say, as joan just pointed out, that most people on food stamps are white. so he's speaking to a he have -- about a very broad segment. >> when he's talking to white people, that's now not how they say it. >> mitt romney wants to help all americans struggling in the obama campaign as the governor has made clear he's concerned about the growing number of people dependent on the federal government, including the record number of people on food stamps, nearly one
